The
project was dealing with the evaluation and optimal combination of different
gravity field data sets in Europe (global geopotential model, terrestrial and
altimetric gravity data, and digital terrain models). Originally, the
investigations were focused on the CHAMP (CHAllenging Minisatellite Payload)
satellite gravity field mission, but then also GRACE geopotential models were
utilitzed because of their higher accuracy and resolution..
The following studies were performed in detail:
- collection and processing of
marine gravity data (editing, crossover adjustment, combination with altimetric
data),
- evaluation of terrestrial and
satellite data (degree variances, spherical harmonic expansions, multi-scale
analysis),
- combination of terrestrial and
satellite data (spectral combination, least-squares adjustment, multi-scale
analysis).
The investigations are
documented in the dissertation thesis of the project co-worker (Roland 2005)
and further publications (see below). The project was funded by the German
Research Foundation (DFG) from May 01, 2001 to April 30, 2004 under reference
number De 459/5-1,2 (principal investigators: Dr.-Ing. H. Denker, Prof.
Dr.-Ing. G. Seeber). |
